Paddling trip to a peaceful nature reserve island
A comfortable and safe trip canoeing on a peaceful lake area. Our destination is a fair nature reserve island, where we take a break and make a small Finnish-style picnic meal, cook coffee/tea, and fry sausages by a campfire.
By paddling in a nice canoe, we get close to nature, allowing us to see several waterbirds.
Group size
The group size is 5-16 people.
Kayaking is done in sturdy two-person canoes. A three-person canoe can also be included if necessary. The guides take care of loading the canoes and give good advice on handling the canoes.
Suitable
The trip suits almost everyone over 15 with average physical ability. An adult can accompany children over the age of 12. Participants are required to know how to swim. However, we must take into account the weather conditions.
Availability
The tour is available during meltwater from mid-May to early October. You can check availability online on the calendar, green days.
Duration and length of the trip
The trip takes about four hours. The time used is affected by the weather conditions of the day as well as canoeing.
Canoeing is 6-7 km.

Coffee/tea by a campfire contains:
- Coffee, tea, sugar, milk, cups, and spoons

Description of the trip
Guided giant canoe trip to the island nature reserve, half-day trip
The excursion is made in clear water Niskajärvi in the water body above Verla. During the trip, we take a picnic break in fantastic surroundings and enjoy nature conservation on the island. During the break, exploring the island’s nature or even swimming on the sandy beach is possible.
In the area, we can see many waterbirds and other birds. Swan and Canada goose families are familiar with the area’s cottages. We can also learn to recognize two aware divers from each other. We might see a regular visitor to the island, an osprey, which has had a nest there for several years.
We will also learn about the region’s prehistory and hear about the oldest crops in Europe.

When dressing, pay attention to the weather of the day. According to the trip, it is good to bring drinks; 0.5 l of water is a good solution.

We cannot make the trip during strong winds or thunderstorms. In such a case, we can wait for the weather to improve or postpone another free time. If the journey is canceled entirely due to the storm, we will refund the advances paid in full.

As an organizer, we have liability insurance for the trip, which covers our operations and equipment, such as canoes and their functionality. We recommend leisure or other accident insurance to participants to secure their activities.
